Discovering New People - The Chabad Chickpea - Milestones Israel - Pantry Packers

An incredible story and person which I met when at a convention in Tel Aviv recently, was a Chabad Rabbi, who participates in an idea that took my mind by storm.

Volunteers who come and work to help (even Tourists are open to this opportunity) and donate their time by helping to process food stables such as Chickpeas and other dried goods.

This event is completely free of charge, takes 90 minutes to complete and is available from everyone aged 8-80, so really there is no reason to not get involved!

Its a heartwarming event to take part in and is really an experience that is something to tell the world about, especially back home, where you may find, that an activity like this, so generous, will shock people, whereas in Israel, Mitzvot like these are carried out on a daily basis and is even growing, as an activity to do in your time in Israel, particularly in Jerusalem where Chabad is based.

Neve Tzedek - Tel Aviv Yafo - Milestones Israel

The city of Tel Aviv has an unbelievable amount of attractions waiting for tourists to attend and admire. You could easily spend all your time here shopping, sunbathing and browsing the streets just watching all that is happening. For the real traveler within you however, there are some other places which you will need to look a little harder for.

Neve Tzedek is one of them. Near to Yafo ,or alternatively walk down Allenby a few minutes past the market and make a right turn , you will find Neve Tzedek. It itself is a neighborhood. You will know you have arrived in two ways, firstly , it has quietened down quite a bit in comparison of the hustle and bustle of the streets nearer to Allenby. Secondly, you need to look up and take in the architecture  - here is where its uniqueness is defined. I can only describe it as something very Mediterranean  and vintage with a slight westenders type attitude from the people surrounding.

In the first few minutes after snapping away at doorways and over-hanging balconies, you will pick up on the stores. Mostly health-food stores( an enormous amount of health goods that you may not be able to find around Tel Aviv - here is where they have been hiding) and some upper-class cafes and boutique clothing stores. Follow through the small cobbled lane streets and you will be lead to bike path through a park area, and after that you will get to Neve Tzedek's main feature - which essentially is an old train station.

Enjoy the views and get snap happy with the railway you can walk on , and delicately designed trains you can explore. In addition to all of this ,there is a much more upmarket courtyard design of a shopping mall, again with slightly more elite marketed stores, and some divine cafes and restaurants.

Recently when visiting ,I attended the chocolate festival. An amazing time of the year to go as I could really be overwhelmed with my surroundings and enjoy all the chocolate to ogle.

The Evolution of Personalized Travelling - Milestones Israel

The world of Travel and Tourism is an ever-evolving world and consistently changing to fit the travelers needs...we are constantly looking for that cutting edge factor, something a little bit different, something that stands out more , something else to tell people about back home, there is always just something extra that a traveler needs to make their journey complete.

Israel is not just your average holiday destination. Regardless of whether it is your 3rd trip or your 20th trip, it is still Israel and there is plenty about coming here that is special already. Across the world in other countries, a more personalized tour might not be so beneficial... unless you have routes there ,or some special link to that country, having it specially catered to you as an individual is probably not the best way to spend your time there.
A tour with Milestones Israel is catered, designed, specified entirely upon the individual group/person visiting. Just you or your family as individuals are the priority. Not a whole tour bus with 49 other tourists.

When participating in a Milestones Tour , before you arrive, research will be carried out to help connect you to the country itself. During your stay you will be taken on a journey of self discovery for you and whoever else you may bring. Its Milestones' way of reconnecting you in a new way , to the country but also to your family and yourself.

So , where is the evolution of Personalized Travelling going? Already I am starting to see an unbelievable change in the tourism world where it always amazes me how far the people of this industry are willing to go to put the wow factor in it. Milestones Israel is designed for everything you have been looking for and if you are wanting to find your way home to you  - the do it in Israel...with Milestones.

The Palmach - In Ofrah's Eyes - Milestones Israel

In a recent discovery when doing some research , it occurred to me the date Israel became independent (14 May 1948 )and the date the IDF was formed. May 31st, 1948.With a mere two week spacing these vital events apart, this is a vital indicator that Israel can simply not live without the IDF.

Before the IDF came into action , there were different groups that defended Israel , and when they later on combined, they became the IDF. The Palmach was the team of an elite crew who - by themselves formed, and recruited within their own group, and they decided  who would do which roles of army type work.

Each individual brought their own strengths to the team, whether it was first aid, or weaponry. Another important factor to take on board here is that women were allowed to participate, and not just participate, they were a huge role in the success of it.When visiting the Palmach Museum recently in Tel Aviv , one of the featured roles was a young woman names Ofrah. Her role in the story was essentially to point out to the audience - look how much a young female can bring into the army - and also trying to show that everyone can be shaped into a strong soldier if its done properly. On the other hand, her role was a more personal story, constantly they connected her to a male character who later on became her fiance and husband.

Following all of this, the audience and the characters then have to deal with Ofrah's death , as she is killed off near to the end of the story.

Ofrah's character deals with a multitude of issues during the 90 minutes that the show goes on for, but essentially what the Palmach museum wants us to pick up on is her struggle for holding a personal life and trying to succeed in the army too. She left behind a man with a broken heart , and her friends too were completely devastated. It is the same in the modern world with the IDF, as families across Israel deal with this all the time, and every year a new batch of young Israeli's join the IDF and participate in their responsibilities of two years of their lives in the army. It is something that is going to have to continue provided that there is an Israel, there will always be an IDF.

Milestones Israel - Why Milestones and not Kilometers...?

So...why did he choose such a name? In what relation do milestones have to do with anything related towards tourism?

Milestones Israel is generally a setting where it allows the tourist to connect with Israel on a much more personalized and intimate level. Not your standard package holiday, not your birthright tour, it is quintessentially designed specifically for the individuals , catered to their distinct tastes and requirements.

Milestones is another term for an accomplishment, or a step which you have achieved in your life and you are now moving onwards. Therefore  - Milestones Israel should offer and does offer exactly that.

As opposed to the more common types of trips to Israel this one is fitted to an individual and just a few days ago I was lucky enough to participate. With my own eyes I got to see it all happen. It made things a lot clearer to understand for me, as I got to see that Erez is one of the main features , with a large amount of energy and enthusiasm , as well as his knowledge flaunted , (he really knows his stuff). So within just a few hours that I spent - I was able to see what uniqueness that Milestones Israel really brings to the table.
